TaylorMade’s Daddy Long Legs is an extension of the Spider series introduced in 2008, and is made to provide more stability during the stroke and at impact. Features include a 16-piece clubhead made from eight different materials, a Pure Roll face insert and a 15-inch grip that tips the scales at 130g – about twice the weight of a standard grip. Its MOI is 8500+ – the most ever for a TaylorMade putter – which means the face resists twisting and is easier to square at impact.

“The goal for Daddy Long Legs was to create the most stable putter we possibly could,” says Brian Bazzel, TaylorMade’s product creation manager. “To this point, that’s what Spider has stood for. It’s a very complicated design, with the pieces all working together to create high MOI in the head. Daddy Long Legs is an extreme version of that. It has 16 different pieces and uses eight different materials, all to get the most stable putter head possible. The stability in the head allows us to get more speed control,” he adds.

However, because the 395g head is counterbalanced by a 15-inch grip that weighs 130g, Bazzel says that the entire putter is more stable. “You pretty much have to force the putter off your intended stroke line. It’s actually very difficult to manipulate your stroke.” 

Has the highest inertia head of any TaylorMade putter. A 130-gram grip counterbalances the weight to help swing the head smoothly and on path. A PureRoll Surlyn face insert promotes a soft-yet-solid feel and smooth roll straight off the face, while a white leading edge and black line make aiming easy.

Tested
As reviewed in our 2014 Putters Test: Winner of our Gold Award. Very large in size and similar to the Futura X in terms of shape and where the weighting is positioned – in the back corners. The contrast between the black and white sections boosts alignment and also helps with the squaring of the face. Generally feels incredibly stable through the hit. A large clubhead, but that contributes to the stability of the putter through the stroke. The longer, fatter grip seemed to enhance feel and it excelled especially from short range. Didn‘t lose out on touch from distance, either.
