What we say...

2013 Putters Test

A classic Wilson blade. James liked the dark matt finish and compact, traditional shape. He felt that from the sweetspot he got a really strong roll, but off-centre hits lost considerable control and distance. Joel and Dave agreed it had one of the best grips on test, large and tacky, but not overly so. Dave didn’t feel confident with the smaller head size, saying it places a premium on centre strikes.

Wilson’s 8882 is very much on the small end of the scale, even for a blade, and will certainly appeal more to confident putters. It features a Dual Milled face that is engineered primarily to ensure a flat surface for enhanced consistency before secondary grooves are then added to impart topspin and reduce skid after impact. But while this may look like an unforgiving putter, the secondary milling process actually helps to get a bit of sidespin on putts struck out of the heel and the toe, helping to get them back online.
