Today’s Golfer Hybrid Test 2011

Tested: July 2011
Testing panel:
Chris Ryan (Belfry Pro)
Leon Iacono (HCP 4)
David Connor (HCP 10)
Ben Miles (HCP 17)

It’s hard to doubt a manufacturer of Ping’s reputation but the K15 didn’t win many admirers, mainly due to the looks which pro Chris and Leon described as more of a driving iron. It’s designed to stop a slice, which it certainly did, but overall our team didn’t suffer from this problem and were therefore put off by the bulbous toe which seemed to affect performance. On the plus side, all the testers said the feel off the face was very good, as expected from Ping.

Distance: 2.9
Dispersion: 3.6
Looks: 1.8
Feel: 3.8
Forgiveness: 3.6
Fairway: 3.5
Tee: 3.4
Rough: 2.9

The PING K15 hybrid features a large internal weight pad, which produces a high MOI for added forgiveness. The hybrid’s offset hosel and face relationship increases launch and lowers spin.
