What we say...

Like Ping, Callaway have taken a surprisingly long time to crack the wedge business, but since involving acknowledged wedge wizard Roger Cleveland in the design process their products have improved no end.

These Forged clubs are slightly larger than their previous Forged wedges, which make them less scary for average players, and have a narrower sole grind, which allows golfers to open the face more easily.

We certainly found them among the more playable wedges in the test, probably better suited to golfers of all standards, than, say the clubs of TaylorMade and Titleist. The large, shapely sand wedge – with a significantly more rounded leading edge than the gap – made bunker escapology a ‘doddle’ and the soft forged feel shone through whether we were 50 feet or 50 yards from the pin. On full shots with both clubs the distances achieved were remarkably consistent.
