What we say...

Cleveland 588 wedges have been around for years, but the game has changed since they were designed, and golfers now use wedges in different ways. So Cleveland has added ‘Dynamic Sole Grind’ to the 588 wedge, to make it easier to hit the imaginative shots we see on TV.

The two-tiered sole lets the face fall open to hit high flop shots at will, and it’s easy to nip under the ball, as long as you’re accurate. The Cleveland DSG head may be cast from soft carbon steel, but it didn’t lack any feel over the forged clubs included in this test.

The Cleveland DSG’s strength lies in its versatility – it is capable of hitting shots from every conceivable lie. The only downfall we see is the way the face naturally wants to roll open, making this a club for the decent player who can keep the face square to the target.

Combines a large face area, high toe profile and U-grooves, allowing you to hit with accuracy and control.
