What we say...

Tech:

Three sole designs. “Square Sole” is designed primarily to be played with a square club face. “Dual Sole” offers two distinct sole surfaces for a wide array of shots from any lie. “Toe Sweep” offers superior performance from sand and rough and improves versatility on tight lies.

Our verdict:

Rory and his friends might put the Engage into play every week on tour but its shape and design split our opinion. Chris Ryan loved it where Chris Jones felt it was chunky but performed well. At the end of the day it’s fair to say the Engage’s longer rounder heads are probably an acquired taste. Our wider soled 58deg “Square” head gave a degree of strike forgiveness which could be really beneficial for golfers prone to hitting shots a little heavy.

Bottom line:

Wedges are really personal bits of kit. One man’s pleasure is another mans poison. We couldn’t universally agree we loved the Engage so we reckon its likely if you’re a Nike fan you’ll buy into them. If not there’s plenty of other wedges on the rack crying out for your attention.
