What we say...
Tested: Summer 2011
Christopher Alexander 24 HCP – Prioritises comfort and value when buying shoes.
Johnny Stanco – 14 HCP – Style and performance are two important criteria.
Colin Blair – 14 HCP – This keen player needs durability and performance.
Chris: If money were no object these would be the shoes Chris would choose. He loved the styling and the “tasteful” contrasting leather. But he was even more impressed with the quality: he liked the fact the soles were stitched to the upper rather than glued. He also commented on the stability and grip thanks to a nine-cleat pattern. Again, the price was a concern although he said if you were willing to spend this amount on a golf shoe then you were entitled to expect something of this quality.
Johnny: The styling really appealed to Johnny who liked the quality of the leather because he felt it would be very hardwearing. He did admit they were a little uncomfortable initially and were a pair of shoes that required to be broken in a little. After the first round he noticed a big difference and was a fan.
Colin: Colin loved the styling, prasing the way a classical look had incorporated some contemporary styling. In terms of comfort he admitted he suffered a little at first with some rubbing on the top part of his foot but after a while this disappeared and they were as comfortable as any other on test. Colin also said he didn’t foresee any problems with durability because the shoe seemed extremely well made but this was reflected in the price which he thought was a little steep.
