What we say...

The Ecco Biom C4 takes golf shoes to new levels of style and comfort and is one of our favourite models for 2022.

The latest model in the ground-breaking Biom series, the C4 offers unrivalled 360-degree breathability, allowing golfers to stay cool and comfortable throughout their round in all conditions through a combination of cushioning, rebound, waterproofing and air-flow.

C4 uses Ecco’s most advanced technologies ever. CCO FluidForm Direct Comfort Technology uses specialised fluid materials to form around an updated anatomical last (the foot-shaped form that provides shoemakers with a foundation for building a shoe), ensuring an excellent balance of cushioning and rebound. It also helps to create a flexible and durable bond without any of the compromises found in stitched or glued models.

Thermoplastic Urethane (TPU) posts wrap around the outside of the foot from the outsole to the midsole, and Biom Natural Motion technology enables the foot to move naturally and close to the ground.

The C4 has a Gore-Tex Surround construction to keep water out, which is combined with an ‘Exhaust Grid’ – large, angled openings that scoop in fresh air and direct it to the sole of the feet while allowing heat and moisture to escape for maximum comfort.

Crafted from performance leather, the C4 also comes with a new, super-stretchy mesh sock for ultimate comfort and a breathable OrthoLite insole for extra cushioning. This can be removed to create extra width in the shoe, which is a great touch.

Today’s Golfer verdict: Ecco Biom C4 review

This is one of the most comfortable models we’ve tested in 2022 and it produces impressive levels of grip from the spikeless sole, even when it’s really wet.

As a golfer with wide feet, it’s often hard to find a good fit, so we loved the removable insole. Our previous experience of Ecco shoes has found the super-soft leather to misshape quite easily but that hasn’t proved the case with the Biom C4 as yet.

The breathability makes it ideal for the summer months when your feet can get hot and sweaty, and it is undoubtedly one of the year’s best golf shoes.

It’s an expensive shoe, which will prove off-putting for some, but you really do get quality for your cash. If we had any concerns it would be around the toe area, which we’ve struggled to keep clean and prevent staining. The holes in the sole, which prove superb for breathability can also be a little tricky to remove mud and debris from. Relatively minor concerns, but when you’re considering shelling out more than £200 on a pair of shoes, it’s important to have the full picture.
