Sir Nick Faldo’s verdict on golf in Turkey’s Belek region

Some of the biggest names in golf course design have been talking to TG about the legacy they have left in the Turkish Riviera and why it is a must visit for golfers of all ability.
“Myself and the team at Faldo Design had a great site to work with at Cornelia,” said Sir Nick Faldo.
“We had these great ridges running through the property and mature trees to route it
through.
“It is a real test of your golf game, not just of hitting the ball but also course management – just as I like it to be.”
Perry Dye said: “It isn’t often an American course architect gets the chance to work on a links course so I was thrilled when I got the job at Lykia.
“I love it there and am proud of what we did. I love to go back and see the links keep on maturing – it is truly one of the most fantastic sites I have ever seen with amazing sea views.”
The thoughts of Dye and Faldo were echoed by Peter Thomson who said “My team and I knew from our first visit that this was a very special site for a golf course.
“The heathland-inspired design of Carya Golf Club had all the potential to become both a highly enjoyable course for golf tourists, as well as an outstanding venue for professional golf tournaments.”
