1: Cookridge Hall, West Yorks
Par 72, 6,515 yards
Home of an extra special ’19th hole’ in the form of a one-time 1820s coach house which now houses a pro shop, spike bar, patio area and excellent changing facilities. You also get a bird’s eye view of the dramatic, driveable but risk-reward par-4 finale over water.

2: Woldingham, Surrey
Par 71, 6,376 yards
Boasts a country mansion style stately clubhouse with a comfortable spike bar with patio area, spacious changing facilities, pro shop and smart function suite. All this plus balcony areas overlooking the outstanding 20-years-old par-71 layout with USGA-spec greens.

3: Royal North Devon, Devon
Par 72, 6,650 yards
England’s oldest course is steeped in history and tradition and you can learn all about it in the wonderful golf museum which is well worth checking out along with the honours boards and gleaming trophies. The magical ancient links is pretty special too!

4: Bowood G&CC, Wilts
Par 72, 6,566 yards
This classy venue offers the best of both worlds: an outstanding and highly challenging Dave Thomas parkland layout and a quality 19th converted from a former 18th century estate farmhouse, the excellent facilities including a bar, brasserie and fine dining restaurant.

5: Bryn Meadows, South Wales
Par 71, 6,021 yards
Mature (it opened in 1973) and testing – the 13th is a 227-yards par-3 over water – parkland course superbly supported by a cracking clubhouse with three TVs, a south facing sun deck overlooking the 10th and 11th holes and a pool table.

6: Mannings Heath (Kingfisher course), West Sussex
Splendid parkland layouts supported by a stylish, luxurious Tudor mansion clubhouse which dates back to the 17th century. Facilities include an award-winning restaurant, plush bar with satellite TV, spacious pro shop, superb changing rooms, plus private dining and function rooms.

7: Surrey National, Surrey
Well over a decade old and provides all you need and ask of a modern clubhouse including three function rooms, Spike Bar and Sports Lounge with a wall-mounted large TV screen. It also happens to overlook the 18th green and provides grandstand views over the lake and course.
