New pro-Am series – huge success

Published:

Golfbreaks.com has announced the successful take up of its newly launched 2011 Pro-Am series events at high-quality destinations across Europe.

The new four-day format has proven very attractive with today’s busy professional and amateur golfer, with initial bookings being taken just days after the announcement of the 2011 series.

Simon Lilly, PGA Professional at Wellingborough Golf Club who was among the first to book his place in next year’s Pro-Am series, said: “When I found out about the new four day/three round Pro-Am format that Golfbreaks.com had launched I was eager to put my name down.

“I did so even before the schedules came out as I knew that I could afford four days out of the office, as opposed to the usual seven that most Pro-Am series ask that you commit to.

“The shorter four day/three round Pro-Am format opens up these types of competitions to more people, especially those with families and small children, and I can imagine is more convenient for a lot of people as it means less time away from work.”

Building on its support of PGA pros from the UK and Europe, Golfbreaks.com has initially announced five four-day Pro-Am events for 2011 – each with a £10,000/€12,000 prize fund.

Jim Long, Director of PGA Relations at Golfbreaks.com, added: “I am delighted with the initial success of our new four-day Pro-Am series format. It shows that listening to the market and offering what today’s busy professional and amateur golfer really want is vital.

“As an official supplier to the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and the official golf travel company of the PGAs of Europe, our valued partnership has enabled us to offer all golfers the opportunity to play high-level golf on some of the best courses Europe has to offer.

“One thing I would advise though, to avoid disappointment, is to book quickly to guarantee selected courses and dates since, as you would expect, places are being filled fast.”

With joint sponsorship for each Pro-Am from Bushnell, Golfbidder and Bollé, the initial Golfbreaks.com calendar for 2011 reads:
