Oulton appoint new Academy supremo

Oulton Hall has appointed Chris Ashton as the new Academy Manager at its award winning Nike Golf Academy.

Ashton joins Oulton Hall with a wealth of experience in coaching and club fitting and will take on club fitting responsibilities at the resort’s leading Golf Academy, which boasts a state-of-the-art 360˚ Fitting Suite and has recently been updated with the latest club fitting technologies.

Ashton (29) has accumulated club fitting experience throughout the UK and showed his PGA potential early by picking up the ‘Foremost Assistant PGA Professional of the Year’ award in 2001.

Since then Ashton he has been responsible for the club fitting of major brands in the South East region of England, ensuring players of all abilities, from club golfers to fellow professionals, were getting the most out of their equipment. Ashton was part of a team awarded Club Fitting Centre of the year in 2008 before moving to De Vere’s luxury resort in the North East, Slaley Hall in 2008.

Speaking about his new appointment, Ashton commented: “The golf academy has gained an outstanding reputation since opening in 2007 and I am excited about being involved in continuing to build that reputation. I

“I am sure that golfers across Yorkshire will be able to benefit their games with the custom fitting technology we have here, and I’m looking forward to working with them.”
