Carrick stages inaugural Hickory Open

The Carrick on Loch Lomond will welcome golfers from around the World next month, when the magnificent championship course set on the banks of the infamous Loch Lomond, hosts the inaugural Hickory Open on the 7th of July.
The event offers golfers of all abilities the chance to experience golf in its purest form, playing an 18-hole stableford competition with hickory shafted clubs as used by golfers in the early 1900’s.
Ross Whitfield, Director of Golf and Estates at The Carrick on Loch Lomond, commented, “It is a thrill for all of us here to hold an event of this nature. With Scotland’s heritage in the game of golf it is important for us to remember how the game has evolved.
By giving golfers the chance to play with Hickory clubs around a modern Championship course we hope that all involved can appreciate how the game has developed from when the games founding fathers first played.”
Having played host to a number of top-class golf events in recent years, such as the Ladies Scottish Open on the Ladies European Tour and the PGA Cup, the Hickory Open adds a different dimension to championship golf at the famed Carrick on Loch Lomond.
As well as offering competitors the chance to play the picturesque Carrick golf course, each team will also experience the award-winning hospitality with post golf food in the Claret Jug restaurant.
Designed by renowned Canadian golf course architect Doug Carrick and opening in 2007, the 7,082 yard, par 71 Carrick course enjoys one of the most spectacular locations anywhere in the UK.
