100 up for North Shore GC

The North Shore Golf Club in Skegness is getting ready to celebrate its centenary year in style.

From April 23-25 the North Shore will be hosting a series of events to suit golfers of all standards and abilities including  AM-AM, Shot Gun Start and Fun Texas Scramble competitions as well as a trick shot exhibition by David Edwards.

The North Shore is one of a prestigious group of courses, including the championship courses at St Andrews and Carnoustie, designed by Scotsman James Braid (1870-1950).

Records show that over the years little has really changed on the course from the original Braid design.  The prevailing easterly winds still challenge even the most accomplished of golfers and the traditional Georgian Club House provides a warm welcome on completion of the course. The only real difference is that original course was played in the reverse order.

For the Centenary Weekend (23rd – 25th April) the course at the North Shore will be reverted to its original order providing a one off opportunity to play just how Braid intended. This will be available from Friday 23rd April.

One of the Club’s popular AM AM Competitions takes place on Saturday 24th April followed by an evening of entertainment with a Carvery, Casino and Disco. The Shot Gun Start Competition begins at 8.30 am on Sunday morning.

Competitors will be videoed by David Edward’s and the footage edited and incorporated into his highly entertaining trick golf show at the end of the morning session. In the afternoon a Fun Texas 9 hole Scramble kicks off at 2.30pm.

Various packages are available for those wishing to participate and a busy calendar of competitions and social events is planned by the Club throughout 2010. For more information call 01754 763298 or visit www.northshorehotel.co.uk
