Carnoustie is offering golfers the opportunity to step back in time and retrace the path the legendary Ben Hogan took en route to winning the 1953 Open  with the launch of a fantastic value “Carnoustie Hogan Trail” package.

Available from April 1st – October 31st 2010, this once in a life time offer promises to be the ultimate golf experience.

For just £450 per person this fantastic offer includes 3 rounds of golf at Panmure Golf Club, Carnoustie’s Burnside course and climaxing at Carnoustie’s famed Championship course.

The package is based on 4 people sharing the magnificent Hogan Suite at the Carnoustie Hotel that overlooks the 18th Green and 1st Tee on the Championship course.

The Hogan Suite by itself normally costs up to £750 per night!

In what was to be the only occasion that he played in the Open, Hogan arrived at Carnoustie in 1953 as the reigning US Masters and US Open champion. What wasn’t so well known was that it was the first time Hogan had played in Great Britain and with a reputation for his unrelenting attention to detail he arrived two weeks early in preparation for playing the smaller British ball for the first time.

In those weeks Hogan did the majority of his practice at Panmure GC where he even cut the green himself, in preparation for pre-qualifying on Carnoustie’s Burnside course.

Hogan eventually went on to claim the Claret Jug with a four round total of 282 that included a final round course record 68.
