Top deals at classy Scottish venue

With the season set to get into full swing, golfers are being given the chance to enjoy a weekend break at one of Scotland’s most up-and-coming resorts at some unbeatable prices.
Letham Grange Hotel, Golf & Country Estate, which has undergone an extensive upgrade of its facilities on and off the course during the winter, is celebrating the start of the 2010 campaign by offering some amazing deals for one and two-night breaks in April.
Golfers can enjoy a one-night stay at the 36-hole resort near Arbroath including two rounds of golf, dinner, bed and breakfast and a carvery Sunday lunch for £119 per person and the same deal for two nights’ accommodation for £189 per person.
Jamie Le Friec, general manager at Letham Grange, said: “We are determined to tell everyone about the great courses we have here and also the standards of service we offer. We believe we offer great value for money at a location that is as beautiful as anywhere in Scotland.”
Originally an early Victorian mansion house, Letham Grange was converted into a golf resort at the start of the 1990s and the 300-acre parkland estate boasts two 18-hole courses – the Old Course and Glens.
The 6,632-yard Old Course, designed by Donald Steel in 1987, has been referred to as ‘the Augusta of the North’, and features water on 13 of the 18 holes and includes its very own ‘Amen Corner’ around the turn.
The Glens Course opened four years later and while, at 5,276 yards, the par-65 lay-out is not as tough or punishing as its neighbour, it offers its own series of challenges including the testing final four holes.
Letham Grange has been undergoing an extensive £300,000 modernisation programme since the end of last year as part of a major upgrade of its facilities.
The new Grange Brasserie and Bar offers a choice of a la carte, two or three-course menus with sweeping views of the estate while all 19 bedrooms are to refurbished.
In addition, the golf shop has been completely revamped for the 2010 season and the 19th Hole Golfers’ Bar and Patio will re-open at the start of next month (April).
On the course, money is being spent on irrigation, tree surgery and improving the bunkering.
