Brittany Ferries sail into Costa Brava

Brittany Ferries is boosting its Spanish golf programme for 2011 by adding the Costa Brava to its range as well as increasing its choice of ferry services to Spain.

The new courses, at the PGA Golf de Catalunya and the coastal resort of Platja d’Aro both feature in the company’s 2011  Golf breaks guide which is just out.

The brochure is packed with play-and-stay packages in France and Spain, and golfers booking their 2011 trip before 31 December 2010 will save up to 10% on the total holiday cost.

Nestled between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, the PGA Golf de Catalunya is perfect for couples and groups who want to combine golf with sunshine and sightseeing.

The superb stadium course designed by Angel Gallardo and Neil Coles has hosted the Spanish Open and is voted one of the 10 best in Europe by Golf World.

And just to the east, the championship course at Platja d’Aro combines some of the very best golf with stunning panoramic views over the resort and coastline beyond.

The fully-bonded packages include ferry travel, golf and accommodation making them highly cost-effective, with a 5-night golf break to the Costa Brava starting from £454 per person including golf, 3 nights B&B in a 4-star hotel, and two nights cruising to and from Spain, with an en suite cabin.

The new courses on the Costa Brava re-enforce Brittany Ferries’ well-established range of French and Spanish golf holidays which include dozens of hotels and courses in Brittany, Normandy, the Loire and Aquitaine as well as Asturias and Cantabria in northern ‘Green’ Spain, and La Rioja and Castilla y León further south.

The range of golf breaks is immense and there’s something for everyone. Even golfers who only have time for a round or two can enjoy an awayday in France for as little as £57.

Getting there is easy, with five routes from Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth to western France, as well as two to northern Spain which will increase to three from 27 March when the company launches a new service from Portsmouth to Bilbao.

This Basque city is Brittany Ferries’ first new destination for 24 years and makes a handy staging post for golfers travelling with their car to the courses of Spain as well as those in south-west France – it’s less than a 2-hour drive to Biarritz and there are some great courses in Aquitaine.
