Leaderboard boost for Children in Need

The Leaderboard Golf Group raised £180,000 for BBC Children in Need through charity golf days and special events between 2004 and 2009, and this year successfully reached its target of breaking the £200,000 barrier for the charity, by raising a total of £26,500 across all of its clubs.

Leaderboard owns and operates four of South East England’s finest golf courses, all of which held fundraising events in the week leading up to Children in Need day on  in an effort to reach their target amount and do their bit to support the UK’s disadvantaged children.

Chart Hills, in Kent, held a charity golf day the day before BBC Children in Need day, giving competitors breakfast on arrival, 18 holes of golf on the fabulous course designed by Sir Nick Faldo and a 2 course meal to end the day.

The club repeated the success of previous years and raised a £5,000 toward the Leaderboard grand total.

Meanwhile, Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club, in East Sussex, held a hugely successful fundraising event, raising an impressive £7,300 on a day that included golf competitions, a charity auction, an evening meal, and a personal visit from Pudsey Bear himself when the BBC Children in Need team dropped by for a visit.

The Oxfordshire, near Thame, had a fantastic charity ‘Golf Classic’ event in attempt to bring-in as much money as possible for Children in Need. This day was open to members and non-members alike. As well as golf, the day included breakfast, competition prizes and a 3 course meal, followed by an auction and raffle to raise even more money for disadvantaged young people throughout the UK.

In total the club raised £10,000 in 2010, exceeding all expectations.

Sandford Springs Golf Club, in Hampshire, planned its charity event day to coincide with Children in Need day itself. Competitors worked hard to raise £4,200 toward the £26,500 total, with numerous on-course competitions, breakfast and a 2 course lunch for all competitors, as well as raffles, auctions and much more – all in the name of supporting BBC Children in Need with their various projects around the UK.
