England Test Cricket Captain Andrew Strauss took time out from preparations for his team’s upcoming matches against Pakistan for a round at Wycombe Heights Golf Centre.

The double Ashes winning skipper called in to enjoy a game with his son around the public pay-and-play facility’s highly acclaimed Par-3 Short Course – an ideal, relaxed course for families to gain confidence while learning to play the game.

Russell Stebbings, Wycombe Heights Golf Centre General Manager, said: “Andrew Strauss, along with many other parents, make use of our Par-3 Short Course during the school holidays to give their children a friendly introduction to the game of golf, before progressing onto the Main Course.

“With holes ranging from just 77 yards up to 157, it is the perfect place for young children to start out and for the more accomplished golfers to sharpen their short game skills.”

Strauss, who has played in 89 Test matches for England and scored 6,340 runs, will lead England against Pakistan in the UAE through January and February.

“This is the second time in a month that we’ve welcomed an international sporting star,” added Russell. “Earlier this month Stoke City and England striker Peter Crouch was here – our regular golfers are joking that the centre’s becoming a celebrity hotspot.”
