Top award for Rudding Park

Popular 2-FORE!-1 venue Rudding Park in Harrogate has been crowned ‘Number One Hotel in the UK’ for the second year running, triumphing over some of the UK’s finest hotels in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2011.

The prestigious accolade is based solely on the millions of real and unbiased reviews and opinions from travellers gathered on the travel guide website www.tripadvisor.com.

Favouring Yorkshire over the capital, world travellers gave Rudding Park its top place in the UK rankings for a second time despite fierce competition from luxury hotels across the UK.

Peter Banks, managing director of Rudding Park, said: “Winning the TripAdvisor ‘Best Hotel in the UK’ award for a second year running is proof that an independent Yorkshire hotel can match and beat the most famous names in British hospitality.

“The award is true testament to the dedication of our staff. We look forward to enhancing our guests’ experiences even further with the opening of our new 48 bedroom extension and Spa.

“The care and attention that our staff have provided over the last 12 months will now be matched by larger, more luxurious bedrooms, some of which have private ensuite steam rooms and saunas. “

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said “Accolades don’t come much higher than this. To win this award two years running is fantastic news for Rudding Park and thoroughly deserved.”

Rudding is the home of an 18-hole parkland course, a superb six-hole layout and outstanding practice facilities.

Over the years, numerous special guests have stayed at Rudding Park including Bill Clinton, George Bush Snr, Mikhail Gorbachev, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and John Cleese.
