Aston Villa star at The Belfry

Aston Villa star Marc Albrighton took time out from his club and international duties to visit The Belfry for a custom-fit session in the resort’s PGA National Golf Academy and a round on four-time Ryder Cup course, The Brabazon.

The England Under-21 international, along with Aston Villa FC TV, made the two-mile journey from his training base in Bodymoor Heath to The Belfry for a custom-fit session in the Academy’s Nike suite, before teeing off shortly after.

“It was great to welcome a top sportsman, like Marc, who wants to perfect his game and use the very best on and off-course facilities,” said Gary Silcock, The Belfry’s Director of Golf.

“As well as playing and hopefully enjoying The Brabazon, Marc also embraced the history of the course and was particularly interested in the commemorative Christy O’Connor plaque that lies on the 18th fairway to mark his famous 2-iron shot that clinched Europe’s 1989 Ryder Cup victory.”

There are two other 18 hole courses at the world-famous West Midlands venue – the PGA National and Derby – and both belong to 2-FORE!-1 Golf and offer half-price green fees (with a 2-FORE!-1 voucher).
