Twitter Pairs Cup at Redbourn

Published:

Redbourn Golf Club has fully embraced the world of modern-day communications by preparing to become arguably the first in the country to host a unique competition – based around the social media revolution.

The Twitter Pairs Cup – a better-ball stableford competition to be played over 18 holes of the Ver Course – is designed to celebrate the launch of the forward-thinking St Albans club’s Twitter account.

It will be played on Friday, May 13, and Redbourn – part of Burhill Golf & Leisure, one of the UK’s leading golf course owners – will use the event to raise funds for the St Albans branch of the Alzheimer’s Society, the club’s chosen charity for 2011.

Open to both club members and non-members, the only criteria for players is that they must, of course, be dedicated ‘tweeters’ and followers of Redbourn on Twitter – through which application form details will be posted.

To add to the fun, a number of prizes will be up for grabs, including a special one for Tweet of the Day.

“Golf clubs may still have a reputation as being ‘stuffy’ places obsessed by old traditions and ways – but not Redbourn or any other golf facility in the Burhill Group,” declared Tristan Hall, Redbourn General Manager.

“We are fully versed in communicating with our members and visitors via the latest social media channels – and this special competition will help celebrate that.”
