2-FORE!-1 six of the best

2-FORE!-1 Golf is all about quantity and quality of courses but most of all…great golfing value-for-money.

Here are six more top 2-FORE!-1 tracks where you can a memorable round – for half the normal green fee so long as you’re in possession of a 2-FORE!-1 voucher.

*Seaton Carew, Co. Durham – this top links track unfashionably sits amidst the industrial heart of Teesside. It was designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie and is shrouded in pedigree: it’s the only championship links between Scotland and South Lincolnshire and also happens to be the tenth oldest course in England.

Unusually the home of 22 holes – the last four were added in the mid-1970s – and there’s not a dodgy one among them!

Seaton has staged several leading amateur events over the years and the plethora of sand dune-lined holes and difficult raised greens, ensure it’s a tough examination…and a must-play. Accepts 2-FORE!-1 vouchers on Mondays only.

*Conwy, Caernarvonshire, Wales – another high quality links in a spectacular location on the North Wales coast, Conwy has staged several prestigious events including the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open and European Amateur Team Championship. Also became  the first Welsh course to stage an Open Championship final qualifier.

*Gleneagles (King’s course), Perthshire, Scotland – emerged no.1 in the latest 2-FORE!-1 Top 100 listing and is aptly named as it supremely reigns over 2-FORE!-1. Lee Trevino summed up the King’s when stepping onto the 1st tee for the first time by famously quipping: “If heaven is as good as this, I hope they reserve me a tee-time!”

*Stapleford Park, Leics – a class act on and off the course. The Donald Steel-designed course opened over a decade ago and is a great test of golf as members of the European Seniors Tour have recently discovered. It’s nearly always in tip-top condition, the par-73 layout being majestically plotted on historic Capability Brown landscape around a stately home converted into a luxury five star hotel.

*Abbotsley, Cambs – splendid all round stay and play venue comprising  two 18 hole layouts (Abbotsley & Cromwell), a floodlit 20-bay driving range, a grass practice ground, a par-3 course as well as an on-site hotel.

*High Post, Wilts – a par-70 hidden gem named after the site of an ancient gallows and close to Stonehenge and the historic cathedral city of Salisbury.
