Head south west – and delightful Devon in particular – for some memorable 2-FORE!-1 golf.
Devon boasts some superb courses and fortunately many belong to 2-FORE!-1 and offer half-price green fees provided golfers are in possession of a coveted 2-FORE!-1 voucher.
Here are a handful of Devon’s dazzling best:
Royal North Devon – If you enjoy traditional links golf this is the place for you. Royal North Devon, founded in 1864, is the oldest course in the country and is regarded as the St Andrews of England. Westward Ho! (the village where its situated) as it’s simply known, is not only a great course but a venue of huge historical golfing importance. Inside the warm, friendly clubhouse, the golf museum, honours boards and club trophies tell the story of the game from its birth and the club’s unique place within it.
Ilfracombe – A clifftop gem of a course. The wind has a major say in the way you play this course – for those who like to hit high shots it can cause havoc and golfing grief! Gently undulating fairways and splendid natural drainage make this an outstanding year-round course.
Dartmouth G&CC – Plotted within 225 acres of scenic rolling countryside and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There’s everything you need on-site including an 18 hole championship course, a nine-hole par-33 layout, ten-bay driving range and a splendid value hotel. The former though is the no.1 attraction as far as golfers are concerned and features a super set of par-3s
Sidmouth – short-but-sweet par 66 with plenty of difficult holes to challenge golfers of all standards. The views across Lyme Bay are highly impressive.
Elfordleigh – A fast-maturing, much improved parkland layout.The new 1st green has improved the opening hole and tghen you tackle the newer holes (2nd – 10th) ranging from inviting par 3s to the challenge of the double dogleg par-5 4th.
