Surf & Turf package at the vale resort

Avoid wipe out this summer by taking advantage of the newly launched ‘Surf and Turf’ breaks at the Vale Resort near Cardiff.

The four-star retreat in the Vale of Glamorgan, which boasts award-winning golf courses, has teamed up with Cressey’s Surf Academy to give adventure-seeking guests a “totally awesome” surf and golfing experience.

The breaks are designed for golfing fanatics who want to mix things up a little and swap the sand of the bunker for that of the beach. Each package provides two hours of surfing tuition, in groups of no more than 10, and all equipment and insurance is provided.

Guests can strip off their wetsuits, don a pair of plus fours, and play a challenging 18 holes of championship golf on one of the longest courses in the UK.

Approximately 30 minutes from the Vale Resort, Cressey’s Surf Academy is headed up by South African surfing champion, Ingemar Cressey, who has more than 20 years’ experience of riding the waves in UK and international waters, and 12 years’ experience of teaching people to surf.

The surf school is mobile allowing learners to visit beaches along the south Wales coast, giving the flexibility of going to wherever the best waves are for the day.

Stephanie Metson, marketing manager of the Vale Resort, said: “South Wales is blessed with some of the most beautiful coastline in the country and is building a reputation as a surfers’ hotspot.

“We’re constantly on the look out for partnerships that offer our guests something a little different from the usual, and our link up with Cressey’s Surf Academy certainly fits the bill. It’s great to have a former South African surfing champion on board to help our guests learns the basics or finely tune their surfing skills.

“This break would suits golfing groups who want to spice up a typical golf trip with the boys with something a little extra special.”

The Surf and Turf Break consists of:
