2-FORE!-1 six of the best

Looking for a great 2-FORE!-1 golf day out? Look no further…here are six more top tracks where you’re guaranteed a game to remember.

Bingley St Ives, West Yorks – A terrific course with a bit of everything – parkland, woodland and moorland golf – and bags of pedigree. The latter is probably the pick of the sections in the summer when offering stunning views along the Aire Valley, Bronte moorlands and Rombolds Moor. In the 1980s, Bingley was a regular – and worthy – Tour venue. Nick Faldo and Seve Ballesteros were among the big names who teed it up at Bingley and later made significant contributions to improving several holes.

*Abbotsley, Cambs – Home of two 18 hole layouts (Abbotsley & Cromwell) while the excellent facilities include a floodlit (20-bay) driving range, a grass practice ground, practice bunker, putting green and par-3 course.

*Malahide, Dublin, Ireland – Close to the famous links of Portmarnock anda great inland alternative to one of Ireland’s most revered layouts. It provides 27 holes (three loops of nine) of quality, gently undulating parkland – initially the work of the late Eddie Hackett. Two of the nines have been redeveloped in recent years though all three loops offer varying challenges with a combination of water features, trees and raised greens.

*Hurlston Hall, Lancs – A newish, Donald Steel layout and a relatively flat walk, interspersed with water hazards protected by railway sleepers.

*Telford GC & Spa, Shropshire – You’ll be well impressed by the par-72 parkland course and the four star hotel’s 170 acres of grounds and sumptuous spa.

*Royal Ashdown Forest (West Course), East Sussex – The wonderful West course is a more than worthy neighbour for the historic venue’s main attraction, the majestic Old Course.
