Great Ireland golf breaks from just £69

With two of the four reigning Major champions, Irish golf prospects have never looked better and to help celebrate its success golfers can take advantage of its success with 20 travel offers for less than £200 at www.discoverireland.com/golf.

Tourism Ireland’s website offers golf fans the chance to follow in the footsteps of US Open champion Rory McIlroy and Open Championship winner Darren Clarke with some amazing discount deals, and breaks starting from just €69.

Golfers can enjoy great value, choice and the legendary Irish craic with a variety of offers for one, two and three night-stays – both north and south of the border – while they will also have the opportunity to tread the same fairways that the likes of world number one McIlroy, Clarke and Ryder Cup colleague Graeme McDowell used to hone their skills.

Included in the enticing list of packages is the chance to play Royal Portrush, host of this year’s Irish Open from June 28 to July 1, and three of County Antrim’s top courses from only £199 per person.

A two-night bed and breakfast break including a three-course gourmet evening meal on the evening of your choice and a round of golf at Malone and Belvoir Park courses – two of McIlroy’s favourite venues in Northern Ireland – is available for £195 per person until June.

And there are also some great bargain deals to be snapped up for golfers heading further south, including a fantastic ladies’ golfing package at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club – home of the Irish Open in 2010 and 2011.

From €149 per person, the amazing offer – based on four people sharing a cottage – includes three nights’ accommodation, 18 holes at O’Mahony’s Point course at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club and unlimited golf at Castlerosse Golf Club over one or two days, plus a voucher for a four-course dinner with wine for only €25 per person.

Sofia Hansson, business and sports tourism executive at Tourism Ireland, said: “One of the beauties of playing golf in Ireland is that there really is something for everybody to enjoy at a price that doesn’t break the bank.

“While people may know all about the likes of Royal Portrush, The K Club and Royal County Down, there are other clubs that are just waiting to be discovered in some simply stunning locations.”

The packages are part of the Tourism Ireland’s ‘Time to Play’ initiative to promote golf in Ireland to a wider audience.

With some of the most famous venues anywhere in the world, Ireland offers golfers the complete package with top championship courses, stunning scenery, fascinating history and some of the best craic around.
