2-FORE!-1 best of britain: Hertfordshire

The county of Hertfordshire offers plenty of quality golf, including a real world-beater. Fortunately many Herts courses belong to 2-FORE!-1 so you can play them for half-price with a 2-FORE!-1 voucher.

*The Grove – One of the finest inland courses in the land, specially when it comes to conditioning. Think Augusta and you’ve got The Grove.

You can walk in the footsteps of Tiger Woods (he romped to World Golf Championship victory here in 2006) and test your skills on the immaculate fairways and supreme greens. And the good news is that excellent drainage ensures all-year play. The on-site hotel is pretty special too – the England football squad base themselves here for international matches.

Note: 2-FORE!-1 is only available at The Grove on Mon & Tues from May till the end of September (2-FORE!-1 is not valid with any other discounted rates).

*Aldenham G&CC – Proud home of the 18 hole Church course which once boasted the longest hole in the land (621 yards, par-5 13th) which still proves unlucky for many! You can warm-up on the neighbouring nine-hole Berry course.

*Royston – The course is plotted on fast-draining heathland and is nearly always playable and in good condition. But watch out for two par-3s over 220 yards….both potential card wreckers.

*Redbourn – Fine all-round modern venue boasting a testing main 18-hole parkland layout, a par-3 course and impressive practice facilities.

*Bushey Hall – Founded in 1890, Bushey Hall is the oldest parkland course in the county and has a wonderful combination of holes. Afterwards, you can unwind in the Grade II listed clubhouse.
