2-FORE!-1 six of the best

Don’t know where to use that prized 2-FORE!-1 voucher? Well, here are six more top courses which guarantee a great round at a great price (half-price with a 2-FORE!-1 voucher).

*Turnberry (Kintyre course), Ayrshire, Scotland – It may play second fiddle to the mighty, magnificent Ailsa but the Kintyre is a genuine championship back-up to the superstar.

But don’t think the Kintyre is easier than the Ailsa because it isn’t. Believe that and you’ll be severely punished, particularly if you’re wayward off the tee –  swathes of gorse bushes line the tight, fast-running fairways.

Turnberry boasts some of the best holes in links golf and right up there among them is Kintyre’s sensational risk-reward short par-4 8th with the hidden green sitting in a cove just yards from the beach.

* Guildford, Surrey – The oldest course in Surrey and is probably the driest – the downland layout rolls over chalk-based terrain so you are virtually guaranteed a game. The short par-4 4th is the highest point of the course, providing stunning views over four counties.

*Nizels, Kent –  Quality modern parkland venue plotted on high ground overlooking Kentish Weald countryside.

*Carden Park, Cheshire – With two classy18-hole courses, including a Jack Nicklaus layout, and a De Vere Hotel and Spa, this venue has developed into one of the country’s leading golfing resorts.

*Seascale, Cumbria – Outstanding if underrated links on the west coast of Cumbria. A serious challenge when the wind picks up.

*Perranporth, Cornwall – Smashing, quirky and spectacularly undulating Braid links with views-to-die-for.
