2-FORE!-1 six of the best

Published:

Another six top 2-FORE!-1 venues where you can enjoy a great day out for half-price (with a 2-FORE!-1 voucher of course).

*Ilfracombe, Devon – Although not the longest course around, Ilfracombe is no stroll in the park…or on the magnificent North Devon coastline to be precise.

This Devonian delight undoubtedly provides a severe golfing examination thanks to the combination of the undulating terrain and the prevailing south westerly winds.

You’ll love both  the course and the spectacular coastal views over the distant island of Lundy and the Bristol Channel. A great golfing day out and the good news is that Ilfracombe is in good nick all-year round and accepts 2-FORE!-1 vouchers throughout the winter.

*Musselburgh Old Course, East Lothian, Scotland – If you enjoy your golfing history, you’ll love ancient Musselburgh to bits. The place is simply steeped in it.

Forget St Andrews, this is where golf first started: it’s officially recognised as the oldest golf course in the world – the game was played on Musselburgh Links as early as 1672 although Mary Queen of Scots reputedly played there in 1567.

*Walmer & Kingsdown, Kent – Impressive clifftop/dowland layout at the heart of ‘White Cliffs Country’ and plotted between Dover and Deal close to the legendary links of Royal St George’s, Royal Cinque Ports and Prince’s.

*Elsham, Lincs – This tranquil, well wooded wonderland is the former home of former Open and US Open champion Tony Jacklin.

*Scarborough South Cliff, North Yorks – Quirky clifftop-parkland layout, designed by Alister MacKenzie, and located just outside the popular seaside town.

*Malahide – Close to the famous links of Portmarnock and a great inland alternative to one of Ireland’s most revered layouts.
