*Pleasington, Lancs – The course is well over a century old and the unusual combination parkland/heathland layout is always in tip-top shape. It’s got plenty of pedigree too – it regularly hosts Open Regional Qualifying.
*Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight – The panoramic views on this downland course are arguably the best in England. A dry playing track all year built on chalk, the ball seemingly runs forever – a big bonus at this time of the year.
*Ingon Manor, Warwicks – A rollercoaster of a layout that is improving all the time. The course holds up well to the elements and the greens are particularly impressive. It’s not too demanding either and several elevated tees means you’re treated to some stunning countryside views.
*Hexham, Northumberland – Outstanding rolling parkland close to the river Tyne and you’ll be knocked out by the stunning Northumbrian countryside.
*Cullen, Aberdeenshire – Unique mini links – it’s a par-63 and under 5,000 yards long – which dramatically sits in an idyllic bay overlooking a sprawling beach.
*Abbotsley, Cambs – Impressive all round venue with two 18-hole layouts, a floodlit (20-bay) driving range and on-site hotel.
