Golf & cruise in style in sicily

Golf lovers who have a passion for sailing can indulge in both sports thanks to an exciting new partnership that Sicily’s Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa has forged with luxury cruise specialists Kalos Golf.

Under the terms of the new agreement, the award-winning five-star venue will be included as part of all golf packages that the American-based company is offering to Sicily, with the first group of guests having arrived to enjoy Donnafugata’s luxurious facilities earlier this month.

Launched 17 years ago, Kalos Golf is renowned for delivering an outstanding level of service and offers golfers a choice of 11 different cruises in 24 different countries and at 63 different courses.

Donnafugata will feature in a series of eight-day cruises that offers golf fans the chance to play some of Sicily’s finest courses and discover the island’s historic past, rich array of architecture and spectacular coastline.

Guy Roberts, golf director at Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa, said: “Kalos Golf is a perfect match for the resort and we’re very proud to have been chosen as one of their golfing venues.

“With its central location, great climate and fantastic beaches, Sicily is quickly emerging as a leading golf and touring destination and the agreement will help create even greater interest in Donnafugata.”

The new partnership is further confirmation of Donnafugata’s continued rise as one of Italy’s top golf destinations and comes on the back of the resort’s two 18-hole golf courses being named in 2012 as the best new golf courses in Italy by top Italian magazine Il Mondo del Golf.

And British golfers can discover for themselves what makes Donnafugata so special with the venue offering some fantastic sunshine deals during autumn, with packages starting from as little as €132 (£110 approx) per person per night.

A four-night break with two rounds of golf and two driving range tokens costs just €585 (£487 approx) per person. The package also includes daily breakfast, two three-course dinners, one light lunch and one entry voucher to the spa and wellness centre.

Alternatively, a seven-night package with five rounds of golf and five driving range tokens is available for only €990 (£825 approx) per person, including breakfast, three dinners, two lunches and two entries to the spa.

Prices are based on two people sharing a twin or double standard room, are valid until December 22 and include a 10 per cent service charge while meals do not include drinks.

Donnafugata boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses – the Links Course and the Gary Player-designed Parkland Course – with the latter being used to host the European Tour’s Sicilian Open last year, won by Frenchman Rafael Jacquelin.

The luxurious resort lies near to the town of Ragusa, the cradle of Sicilian Baroque architecture, with its neighbouring towns listed among the pearls of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Modica, Scicli and Noto.

As well as two 18-hole championship golf courses, Donnafugata offers a spa and wellness centre, swimming-pools and three restaurants and is the ideal destination for a holiday focused on sport and relaxation in a truly exclusive setting.
