2-FORE!-1 best of britain: Cumbria

Head to the north west of England and Cumbria in particular and you’re in 2-FORE!-1 golfing heaven. Try any of these belting courses out and you’ll see what we mean…

*Seascale – Ignore the fact it’s overlooked by Sellafield power plant and you’ve found links golfing heaven. It really is a gem of a seaside course and, being designed by Willie Campbell and George Lowe, has been around long before the blot on the Cumbrian coast landscape. Gives great value-for-money – with or without a 2-FORE!-1 voucher – and is understandably proud of its place in ‘Rolex World’s Top 1000 Golf Courses.’

*Windermere – You’d expect something special at the heart of the Lake District wouldn’t you? And Windermere decisively delivers on all fronts, fully living up to every visitor’s high expectations. You’ll love the relatively new USGA-spec greens, the variety of holes, and the many thrills and spills on offer from the moment you tee it up on the short par-4 1st and are required to negotiate a dramatic cliff-face (an old quarry) staring you in the face!

But most of all you’ll relish and be in awe of the breathtaking, world-class scenery all around you – the views of Windermere and the surrounding fells are spectacular to say the least.

*Cockermouth – Perched on top of a hill just north of the Lake District, this course offers some breathtaking views – even as far as the Isle of Man and the Scottish mountains on a clear day.

*Grange-over-Sands – Challenging parkland layout in good condition all-year round.

*Carlisle – Plotted among mature trees in gently undulating parkland and is one of the region’s most attractive courses.
