De Vere Wychwood Park Hosts European Tour Qualifying School

De Vere Wychwood Park is set to welcome the stars of the future from all over Europe as they seek to secure their playing rights on the European Tour for the 2013 season.

The Cheshire venue will play host to the first stage of the European Tour qualifying school for the third consecutive year this week.

The 7,213 yard championship course has provided a stern test for some of Europe’s best prospects since 2010, and will once again welcome leading professionals and amateurs between the 18th and 21st of September.

Amongst those trying to gain their European Tour card at Wychwood Park are 2011 Walker Cup players, Paul Cutler, Michael Stewart, and 2012 British Amateur Champion, Alan Dunbar.

They are joined in the field by promising amateurs James Frazer, Craig Hinton, who competed in the 2011 Open Championship, and two-time English Men’s Strokeplay champion Neil Raymond.

The tournament also marks the final event of a successful season of at the venue, following on from the Veka and Network Veka UK Open on the EuroPro Tour, and regional PGA events.

The EuroPro Tour event was won by Cambridgeshire’s Paul Maddy, who shot a stunning course record 62, on his way to victory. The outstanding condition of the course received high-acclaim from all of the players at the tournament.
