It may be in the deep mid-winter but if you’re looking to blow the cobwebs away then these super 2-FORE!-1 courses will enable you to do just that. They’re all excellent year-round venues, playable 365 days a year…provided the dreaded white stuff isn’t lying around of course!

*Conwy (pictured), Caernarvonshire – Arguably the best course in North Wales, this magical links is a severe test when the wind picks up. Situated at the mouth of the estuary of the River Conwy, clever strategy is needed to score well, particularly in and around the fast greens.

* Turnberry (Kintyre course), Ayrshire, Scotland – It’s hard for the Kintyre being in the shadows of the mighty Ailsa, widely regarded as one of the world’s great courses. But the Kintyre is an outstanding links in its own right and climbing up the small hill from the 7th green to the 8th tee is a revelation that every golfer should experience.

*Royal North Devon, Devon – Has to be on the courses CV of any discerning golfer. It’s England’s equivalent of St Andrews and, having been founded in 1864, is the oldest course in the country.

*Seaton Carew, Teesside – One of England’s finest links layouts and oozes history and tradition, being the 10th oldest course in the country.

*Manor House, Wiltshire – Guaranteed parkland thrills and spills in the heart of breathtaking Cotswold countryside. The Peter Alliss/Dave Thomas creation is always in great condition and features several dramatic elevated tees, most notably the par-3 17th to a green 120ft below!

*The Wychwood, Oxon – Parkland tranquillity in the Cotswolds though there are some pretty testing holes to overcome, including the par-3 15th protected by a stream. You’ll love the USGA-spec greens.
