2-FORE!-1 six of the best

Not sure where to use that precious 2-FORE!-1 voucher at the start of the new year? Well, take your pick from around 1,000 courses dotted all over the country and here are six of the very best…

*West Cornwall, Cornwall – Not only the oldest course in the county, West Cornwall also happens to be one of the finest links in the region.

*Church Stretton, Shropshire – As the third highest course in the country, this short-but-sweet Braid layout guarantees a lifting golfing experience in more ways than one. It’s quirky and immense fun while the views of the surrounding area are simply stunning.

*Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire, Wales – Designed by the legendary Harry Vardon over a century ago, the course sits on a lofty headland with striking views of the coastline of Cardigan Bay, and the Welsh countryside.

*Abbotsley, Cambs – This fine all-round venue features two 18-hole layouts (Abbotsley and Cromwell courses) along with on-site accommodation, floodlit (20-bay) driving range, putting green and a par-3 course.

* The Tytherington, Cheshire – Although still relatively new – it opened in 1986 – it is widely regarded as one of Cheshire’s most challenging tracks. Plotted on gently undulating parkland, it winds its way through mature woodland and features over 100 bunkers and eight water hazards.

* Forest of Arden (Arden course), Warwicks – A superb Donald Steel parkland which magically weaves its way around picturesque Packington Estate. It’s been a regular European Tour venue down the years.
