Chance to play in classy Abama pro-am in tenerife

UK golfers have an opportunity to take part in Abama Golf & Spa Resort’s fourth international pro-Am which is being staged from March 14-17.

Since its launch, the prestigious tournament at the five-star resort has attracted Spanish super model Andres Velencoso, ex-Real Madrid and FC Barcelona midfielder Luis Figo and former Real Madrid star Guti.

 With Porsche sponsoring, professionals and amateurs worldwide will compete in a 36-hole tournament on Abama’s challenging 72-par, 18 hole Dave Thomas-designed course with its spectacular clifftop setting overlooking the Atlantic.

A total of 36 teams comprising one pro and three amateurs per team with a maximum handicap of 24 for the gentlemen and 28 for the ladies, will battle it out in the tournament with its “Team Scramble” format for the 1st and 2nd rounds.

The contest will conclude with a fabulous Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony where participants will see cash prizes awarded for professionals (a total of the per team score for the first five teams) and golf equipment as well as accommodation at other Ritz-Carlton hotels around the world for amateurs. Prizes will also be awarded to players for the longest drive and nearest to the pin on selected holes.

Located on the smooth slopes of the Pico del Teide volcano, the highest point in Spain, the par-72 Abama layout  offers unbeatable coastal and is made up of a diverse terrain that ranges from 78 metres to 315 metres above sea level.

Participants can sharpen their swings at the Golf Academy which boasts a five hectare driving range with a par-3, three-hole practice ground, putting green for beginners and a timetable of classes for enthusiasts of all levels.
