2-FORE! Best of Britain: Northamptonshire

The county of Northamptonshire is slap bang in the middle of the country and boasts a terrific variety of courses.  They’re easily accessible and generally offer great value, specially if you tee it up courtesy of 2-FORE!-1!

*Hellidon Lakes – A great place to stay and play in rural Northamptonshire. It’s not only the home of 27 holes of impressive parkland golf with good practice facilities but a splendid modern Q Hotels hotel – the wide range of amenities include a spa, tennis courts and even a tenpin bowling alley. Great fun and if the weather is dodgy you don’t have to miss out either as you can tackle the indoor golf simulator machine instead.

*Oundle – Short, quirky, fun, challenging and gently undulating parkland with a good variety of holes.

*Kettering  (pictured) – The oldest course in the county should be straightforward enough since James Braid’s track only has two water hazards, just a handful of bunkers and five par-3s.

*Kingsthorpe – Quality mature undulating parkland course which is usually found in excellent condition and has a sting in the tail with arguably one of the finest finmishing holes in the county.

*Staverton Park – Fine all round venue with a challenging parkland track and a De Vere hotel on site.
