Members of Redditch GC, Worcestershire, have commemorated their 100th year by burying at Centenary Time Capsule on land at the Lower Grinsty Lane club.

The idea was the joint decision of the Centenary Committee and committee member Peter Nash contstructed and sealed the capsule.

It was buried in a ceremony to mark the end of the club’s 2013 centenary celebrations and contained a range of items designed to give future generations a picture of how Redditch Golf Club members celebrated this landmark date.

Peter Nash said: “We collected a wide spread of material ranging from a Redditch Golf Club ball through to all the centenary memorabilia we produced, including a tie, lapel badge, ball marker, ball tag, centenary dinner attendees list, centenary menu signed by our VIP guest Peter Alliss and president Bill Keen.

“We also put in items like the AGM agenda and the restaurant menus, plus a copy of the Centenary Booklet which will give someone in the future a real picture of what a thriving club we are and how we celebrated our first 100 years.”

Centenary captain Tom Sheldon said: “This was a really fitting way to mark what was a momentous year and I am very proud to have been club captain during our 100th year.”
