Award-winning hotel is back to earth

The award-winning Onyria Marinha Edition Hotel & Thalasso, in Cascais, Portugal will be hosting a musical show dinner to help celebrate the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour on March 29.

This is the fourth year the boutique hotel – voted the third-best hotel in the world in 2013 by users of TripAdvisor – has participated in Earth Hour and will, once again, see a significant cheque, almost €5,000, passed on to WWF as a result of its participation in Check Out for Nature, WWF.

Both the Onyria Marinha Edition Hotel & Thalasso Hotel and its sister venue, the Quinta da Marinha Resort, have participated in Check Out for Nature, WWF, whereby hotel guests are asked if they wish to make a donation of just one euro to assist with biodiversity conservation projects in Portugal.

The show dinner, in the hotel’s Story restaurant, has a Spider-Man theme, following a tie-up with Marvel, and will see a circus acrobat perform a series of stunts as Spider-Man which will include ‘flying’ across the ceiling and wall-walking. Lights will be turned off in the hotel at 7pm and the evening’s festivities will begin half-an-hour later with the serving of cocktails illuminated by special light sticks, while all the music will be acoustic.

Located in the delightful Quinta da Marinha – close to Cascais, on the Lisbon coast – the Onyria Marinha Edition Hotel & Thalasso opened in April 2011was hailed as the best five-star hotel in Portugal in the 2013 Publituris Portugal Travel Awards.

It sits adjacent to the Robert Trent Jones Sr-designed Quinta da Marinha golf course which enjoys magnificent views to the Atlantic Ocean and the mountain of Sintra.
