2-FORE!-1 is all about top value golf and you’ll certainly get that at these super six courses dotted across the UK.

*Celtic Manor (Roman Road course), South Wales – It may be now overshadowed by the Ryder Cup-staging Twenty Ten, but the Roman Road has hosted three Wales Opens and offers a superb collection of holes, particularly the 8th and 14th, along with a memorable finale.

*Moor Allerton (pictured), West Yorks – This quality Leeds venue has the distinction of being the first course in Britain designed by top US architect Robert Trent Jones and has 27 holes in three loops of nine.

*Heysham, Lancs – A lengthy, challenging parkland layout with a selection of 400-yards plus par-4s as well as several water hazards, ditches and ponds to negotiate.

*Borth & Ynyslas, Wales – A quality if underrated links layout which impressively unfolds along the estuary of the River Dovey with stunning views across Cardigan Bay. You’ll use every club in your bag….. and will receive a warm welcome at the extended 19th. It’s always in great nick too whatever time of the year.

*Seascale, Cumbria – Links golf isn’t all about the superstars of St Andrews, Muirfield, Royal Birkdale you know. It’s all about unsung heroes like Seascale which provide all the drama and excitement provided by the above…for considerably less money.

*Mannings Heath (Kingfisher course) – The wonderful Waterfall (members & members guests only) may be the main golfing attraction here but the par-72 Kingfisher, at under 6,000 yards, is a much friendlier proposition.
