England warm up for World Cup at Vale do Lobo

England’s footballers have been warming up for their World Cup bid in Brazil at the luxury Vale do Lobo Resort in the Algarve.

Players, coaches and support staff were welcomed to Vale do Lobo for a training camp to prepare the squad for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil – the Three Lions kick-off against Italy on June 14th.

The resort was able to offer top class accommodation and facilities, including the use of the football pitch, fitness centre and other amenities to help aid the team in their preparations.

While staying in the resort, not only were the players able to optimise their training sessions through use of the outstanding facilities but they were also able to enjoy rounds of golf on the Ocean and Royal courses, with many using time after sessions to take to the courses with fellow team-mates.

England coach Roy Hodgson said: “Since the start of the training camp there has been a tremendous feeling of energy. It has been a very good three days. Vale do Lobo is an excellent place to have a training camp and we have been very well looked after here.”

He explained why the team chose the resort , saying: “We wanted the facilities and a chance to get away together. We are very happy with the facilities, the pitch and the place. Portugal remains one of our favourite places to come to.”

Everton full-back Leighton Baines added: “It’s a nice set up and it is great for the lads to be able to go and get a game of golf after training hard.”
