Festival of fun lined up at Thorpeness

Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel is to host its second annual Festival of Golf over its prestigious heathland course on the Suffolk Heritage Coast in July.

The inaugural Thorpeness Festival of Golf was launched last year and was the first of its kind ever staged in East Anglia.

The three day festival runs from July 29-31, and is played over a 93-year-old course designed by five-time Open Champion James Braid. Thorpeness is rated as one of the finest coastal heathland courses in Southern England.

Golfers entering the festival will enjoy individual and team competitions, evening entertainment, events and coaching clinics with European Tour coach Bill Ferguson – former coach to Colin Montgomerie – and Thorpeness Head Professional Frank Hill.

Last year’s festival attracted golfers from across the UK as well as entrants from Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and East Anglia and the organisers hope to establish it as a popular event on the amateur golf calendar.

Ajay Anthony, general manager at Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel, said: “Thorpeness is an ideal destination for a summer golf festival, a quintessential English seaside village with a great golf course surrounded by outstanding natural beauty.

“We are offering a range of options to golfers, from great value golf breaks packages for the entire festival to pay and play entries into competitions and social events for golfers local to Suffolk.”

*A range of stay-and-play packages are available for the Thorpeness Golf Festival with prices starting from only £199, with an added option to extend the stay and receive a free round of golf. To book call the Shop on 01728 454926, or e-mail: proshop@thorpeness.co.uk
