Callaway Golf - a name synonymous with making ultra-forgiving irons - has taken a giant break from tradition by unveiling their first-ever set of blades.
The prototype X-Muscle irons have already won on Tour in the hands of World Number Two Phil Mickelson.
"It was a great opportunity to test the new Callaway golf equipment," Mickelson said. "I'm going to put the new golf irons into play in 2008 and feel very good about it. Even though I'm taking two months off now I feel like I have a head start."
World Number Five Ernie Els has also been testing the new X-Muscle irons at Callaway's UK test centre in Chessington and loved them so much he's instantly put them in his bag.
There is very little known about the prototype X-Muscle irons at this stage other than they have the power and forgiveness of a muscle-back design with the striking crisp, clean look of a blade.
The X-Muscle are anticipated to be in pro shops next summer, but look out for more TG tests over the upcoming months.
