Aug26 New Scotty Cameron putters

Published:

These are the latest designs from legendary clubmaker Scotty Cameron – Titleist’s new Red X3 and Red X5 putters.

The mallets, which replace the original Red X and Red X2 in the Titleist putter line, feature refined shapes and profiles with a new glare-resistant Charcoal Mist finish for unmatched looks and feel.

Both Red X models are milled from 303 Stainless Steel and machined both inside and out to provide precise internal weight distribution.  Additional weight is distributed in the centre of the body, level with the equator of the ball, for better roll.

The putters are finished with a black anodized aluminium soleplate that conceals the precise internal weighting. The sole is drafted with slight relative bounce allowing the putter to sit squarely without any face closure. The topline slopes up to create a high toe feature to help ensure the putter is soled with the proper loft and face angle.

“This generation of the Red X line takes our mallet design into the next realm of performance and style,” said Scotty Cameron, Master Putter Maker for Titleist. “I’ve incorporated feedback from Tour players, my research at the Putter Studio, and years of design refinements into the new Red X3 and Red X5 putters.  From finish to feedback and feel, these new mallets are truly something special.”

The new Red X3 features a classic, single bend shaft design, with the shaft bore angled toward the face and heel to produce one-quarter shaft diameter of offset that enhances the look, inspires confidence at address and provides ideal toe-flow through the stroke.  The new Red X5 features a plumbing neck with a full shaft of offset to give the soft lines of the body a precise, contemporary look at setup.  Aesthetically, a large, bold red X complements the industrial machined look of the sole.  The sole also identifies the model and length of the putter.

Both Red X putter options are available in lengths of 33, 34 and 35 inches in right hand.  The Red X3 is also available stock in 35 inches in left hand.  Both models have 4 degrees of loft and 71 degrees of lie and feature the red Cameron Baby T grip.  Red X putters will available in golf shops in the UK from October 2007, with a suggested retail price of £210.
