Ping Rapture V2 hybrid

Ping have a lot of work to do to improve on the current Rapture hybrid but they reckon they’ve cracked it with the Ping Rapture V2 offering.

The all-new Ping Rapture V2 hybrid is to be built in steel with a tungsten alloy sole when it is launched later this year. The tungsten sole positions the weight in the lower areas of the club to help you get the ball up in the air, while the longer face profile than last year’s version gives you more room for error.

Another great plus is that the new Ping Rapture V2 hybrids have been designed with very specific lofts of 17°, 20°, 23° & 27° so  they fit in perfectly with your iron range as replacements if needed.

But while the theory all seemed mighty impressive, our gear team weren’t that impressed with the club. We found the ball flew off the clubface great, but the sound wasn’t the best. In fact, it was positively “tinny”. However, results were more than respectable and launch angle was certainly on the high side; ideal for getting that ball out of the rough!

The Ping V2 Hybrid will retail at £135 (steel) and £150 (graphite).
