The 2009 iron range has been launched to help make the game as easy as possible for the nation’s golfers and having received one of the very first finished Taylormade Burner Plus our test team can testify to this.

The irons, like most other game improvement sets, are not the prettiest to look down on as they feature a chunky top line and big face but where they may lack in the aesthetics department they more than make up for it in performance.

We gave the TaylorMade Burner Plus irons to equipment editor Jon Greathead and instruction editor Carly Cummins to test and both immediately saw the benefits the Burner Plus irons had to offer. Check out the guys in action on the link at the bottom.

The SuperFast technology, light and long shafts and light grips promote faster swing speed for increased distance, while a large clubface with Inverted Cone
technology means that even if you hit it out the toe you’ll get away with it!

Expect to see them in the shops this autumn priced around £449 steel, and £549 graphite for an 8 iron set. You will also be able to create an iron/hybrid set made up of  irons (5-PW) and two rescue clubs (Burner Rescue) for £549 steel and £649 graphite.
