Powakaddy unveils winter wheels for trolleys

Powakaddy has developed a winter wheel for trolleys so they can be used all year round on the golf course.
In wet conditions trolley wheels can often damage the turf and therefore many greenkeepers are reluctant to allow them on the course during the winter months.
But Powakaddy have developed the winter wheels in special consultation with the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA), a selection of head greenkeepers and course managers.
The result is an open tread, which evenly distributes the load over a smaller surface area avoiding compacting and denting. The wheel allows minimal ground contact, avoiding ground penetration and maintaining traction to avoid slipping. The small crown on the front and rear of the tyre also reduces dragging whilst turning without loss of traction.
Simon Homer, PowaKaddy’s sales director, said: “Winter golf has always been a challenge and along with the help and advice of experienced greenkeepers we are delighted to have developed a solution.”
The new winter wheel can be easily retro-fitted, with a quick release mechanism, to any PowaKaddy electric trolley from the year 2000 models onwards.
