It’s hip to be square for Cink at The Open

The Open Championship In Association With Nikon

Stewart Cink’s dramatic victory in The Open Championship at Turnberry has given Nike two-in-a-row when it comes to major championship victories.

In truth, that’s not all that unusual for Nike but previously it has been Tiger Woods bagging honour after honour instead of Cink following up fellow Nike player Lucas Glover’s surprise victory in the US Open.

Cink’s victory means he is just the second player in history to bag a major championship using a square-headed driver, following up Glover’s win at Bethpage with a Nike SQ SUMO – although the high winds, penal rough and deep bunkers meant there wasn’t too much cause for him to get it out the bag at Turnberry.

The American’s victory was the sixth of his career and was achieved with a full bag of Nike gear – including a prototype putter that has been serving him well in the past couple of months.
