Mizuno and Bettinardi sever ties

Mizuno and Bettinardi Golf have announced that their exclusive partnership in putter manufacture will not be extended beyond 2009.

The companies had enjoyed a successful spell in partnership following the debut of Mizuno Bettinardi putters in 2006.

But now Bettinardi, led by founder Bob Bettinardi, will branch out on its own and start producing putters under the Bettinardi brand from Autumn this year while Mizuno will cease selling, marketing and servicing Mizuno Bettinardi putters in June 2010.

The partnership saw the ascent of the A-Series and C-Series line of putters as well as the introduction of the successful Black Carbon Series, which performed well in Today’s Golfer’s putter test earlier this year.

There is no indication as yet as to whether Mizuno will continue with a putter line after June 2010 after previous partnerships with Scotty Cameron, now with Titleist, and T.P. Mills.
